As every mum can attest, no matter how much we want to soak up the festive atmosphere, the lead-up to December 25th can be fraught with tension as we frantically make lists and tie up loose ends before the big day.

While we do everything in our power to make Christmas as magical and wondrous as possible for our little ones, it’s fair to say we don’t put in the same effort when it comes to our own enjoyment of the Yuletide season.

Thankfully, there is a very simple way to remedy this and all it involves is a supply of popcorn, a cosy couch and the company of your little ones.

Immersing yourself in children’s television is one of the easiest ways to recapture your childhood, ignite old memories and really get into the festive spirit.

Here are just five reasons why kid’s TV will always play a role in our Christmas celebrations!

1. Helps to de-stress

When you have lists as long as your arm to check off in the run-up to the big day, it can be easy to lose sight of the true meaning of Christmas.

Rectify this by snuggling up with the kids, switching off and allowing yourself to be taken on a magical adventure of their choice.

2. Ignites old memories

While Christmas is all about children, that doesn’t mean us adults have to opt-out when it comes to the magic of the season.

By suspending your cynicism and reacquainting yourself with children’s television shows, you’ll be surprised how quickly you’ll be reminded of times gone by and the joy of your own childhood festivities.

3.  Acts as a bonding experience

With all the preparation that goes into Christmas, us mums often find ourselves run ragged, and frequently miss out on opportunities to bond with the very people we’re rushing around for – our kids!

Why not surprise them with the fact Netflix will be showing Home Alone - a new Christmas memory for your child to cherish.

4. Puts things in perspective

While you may be tied in knots trying to source that all-important gift for your little one, an hour or two spent in front of the box will remind you that special time with mummy is sometimes all the gift they need.

Time spent snuggling in front of a Christmas cartoon or festive show will do wonders when it comes to your family's take on the Yuletide rush.

5. Teaches us a thing or two

As we all know, children’s television shows are jam-packed with life lessons – things which certainly take on greater meaning at Christmas time.

While you may be using Netflix-time to bond with your brood, chances are you’ll come away from the experience enriched, invigorated and revived - We always have!
