Once your baby is here, you will forget about all of the things that you wanted to do, like take pictures or start a baby book, and instead get stuck in to things you need to do, like changing nappies.

Here are six things to do once baby arrives (write them down and stick them on your fridge so you don’t forget them).

Start their story
With so much going on after the birth, you are bound to forget a few things. Baby books are a great way to document your baby’s journey, so make sure you pick one up before they arrive. If you want, you can start filling it in before they are born to document your pregnancy. Try to do it while the memory is still fresh in your mind.

Take pictures
Have your camera ready and make sure to take lots of pictures. In case you forget your phone in your rush to get to the hospital, pop a disposable camera into your hospital bag now. You will treasure the pictures of the day your baby was born forever.

Get in a photo
No matter how gross, tired or yucky you are likely to feel, make sure you get into a photo of you and your baby soon after the birth. It’s these kinds of photos that you will look back on with fond memories and you don’t need to pop it on the mantle-piece for everyone to see.

Birth announcements
Some people like to announce their baby’s birth in the newspaper, so make sure you have all the details ready before your baby is born. This way all you need to do is fill in the name and send it off. Anything to make your life hassle-free will greatly be appreciated.

Accept help
If you are a first time mum, bringing home a baby can be daunting, so make sure you take any offers of help that are given to you.

Write down questions
Make sure you write down any questions that you think of during the day. They can often slip out of your head during hospital appointments, but having them written down will be a great help.
