Breakfast-time battles and dinner-time debates are par for the course in the households of millions of families around the world, and it's fair to say the vast majority of these issues arise either from our childrens' reluctance to try new foods or their disdain for the way in which the food has been presented to them.

Our little poppets can be picky creatures, and with many children reluctant to eat food which has touched other food on their plate, meal-times can become a source of considerable tension as mum and dad attempt to placate everyone around the table.

One little girl, who may have come up with the perfect answer to an issue which affects many parents and children, has hit the headlines in recent weeks with her fantastic invention 'Food Cubby'.

Eager to make meal-times less stressful for both herself and her family, Ruby Lucken set about creating something which prevents the food on her plate from touching, telling her parents: "I just need to build a wall that sticks on my plate to keep food from running together."

Graduating from modelling clay, Ruby created a silicone food divider which suctions to the plate and divides the food to the person's liking - an invention which has enjoyed considerable success among children, people with special needs and the elderly among us.
