It doesn’t matter what their school reports say – you and I know, as parents, that our children can pick up on emotions and situations with just a glance or a gesture, and this has been proven in the most beautiful way this week.
Quickly becoming one of our favourite online destinations for a thought-provoking and heart-warming story, Love What Matters has shared one documenting how, with one simple gesture, a toddler managed to give his hard-working mother all the strength she needed on a very tough day.
S.Cope is a nurse who, like many others in her position, often finds herself feeling guilty over “the internal struggle of working mom vs. stay-at-home mom”. On top of this, the mother works hard and pours her heart and soul into every patient's case, often leaving her feeling physically and emotionally drained.
Admitting that it’s two-and-a-half-year old son Parker who gives her the strength to get through her job each day, she went on to share a beautiful story showing her toddler’s compassion in action.
“Yesterday was one of my harder days. And I think he knew I needed a pick-me-up. After I picked up Parker from day care, I looked back and said, ‘Ready, Bud?’ He stuck out his hand and said, ‘Mom, hand? Hold?’ So I reached back to him and he grabbed my hand, squeezed it, and held it tight,” she said, sharing a photo of the gorgeous moment.
She added: “All the way home, 22 minutes, he never let go. He was there for me, when I needed him.”
Where would we be without our little darlings?
