JonBenét Ramsey was just six-years-old when she was bludgeoned and strangled to death on Christmas Day in 1996.

Despite 20 years passing since she  was found in the basement of the family’s home in Boulder, Colorado, JonBenét's killer has never been found and her murder still remains a mystery.

However, the release of a forthcoming documentary – The Killing Of JonBenét: The Truth Uncovered, a film to which her father, John, lends his first-hand experiences, and her brother, Burke, agreeing to be interviewed by Dr Phil, has brought the case into the media spotlight once again.

As his sister's 20th anniversary approaches, Burke agreed to be interviewed by Phil McGraw in an exclusive three-part mini-series, and last night he was questioned about rumours the child beauty pageant star had been sexually abused before being killed.

Explaining that an autopsy of the youngster never proved nor disproved that JonBenét had been sexually assaulted, Dr Phil said that experts have said that it was possible the young girl was abused before being killed.

“Did you ever sexually abuse JonBenét ?” Dr Phil bluntly asked the 29-year-old.

“No. Absolutely not,” was Burke’s response, who was nine at the time of his sister’s death.

As the interview continued, Burke denied having heard or seen anything that would lead him to believe his youngster sister had been abused by anyone else, insisting he “probably” would have heard it.

While Burke, his mum Patsy, who passed away from ovarian cancer in 2006, and his father, John, were all suspects at one point, they were all cleared of the crime.

“I didn’t do it, John Ramsey didn’t do it, and we didn’t have a clue of anybody who did do it. This child was the most precious thing in my life,” Patsy said at the time of her daughter’s death.

Burke previously said he wanted to do the interview in honour of his sister's memory, before adding that he doesn't "want anyone to forget" her.

"I know people think I did it, that my parents did it. I know that we were suspects."
