Mark Quinn was astounded when Aer Lingus charged him €214 because his little girl turned two years old while on a family holiday in Ireland.

This incident appeared to stem from confusion regarding terms and conditions in infant booking regulations.

As it stands, the airline allows passengers under the age of two to sit on an adult's lap for a €20 fee, however, children above this age must book and pay for a seat.

This is an issue which Mr. Quinn was unaware of as he attempted to board a return flight from Dublin to Frankfurt with his daughter who celebrated her birthday between flights.

Commenting on the incident, Mr, Quinn slammed the airline's website, saying  it wasn't 'consumer friendly' and expressed disappointment that the issue wasn't raised with him sooner.

Aer Lingus have since issued an apology for the incident, but insist that the conditions are clearly stated in the website's infant booking section.
