Given just how many incredible and ‘miracle’ stories are reported every week, we shouldn’t be surprised to hear that this couple have smashed odds of one-in-30,000 with their baby news.

Sadie and Gary Brittle are looking forward to welcoming a baby boy into the world at the end of the year – just weeks after enduring an ectopic pregnancy.

According to a report in the Mirror, Sadie was eight weeks along when doctors informed her that she was experiencing an ectopic pregnancy and she would lose her unborn baby.

Devastated, Sadie was also naturally confused when her stomach continued to grow and she began feeling unwell. Two months later, she returned to her doctor – and she received some truly amazing news: she was pregnant.

Doctors discovered a second embryo developing in Sadie’s uterus, and the couple have just had their 20-week scan.

Sadie told the Mirror: “I had an ultrasound and you could hear a heartbeat - the scan showed that I was 19 weeks pregnant. The midwife told us that in the 23 years she’s been working, she’s never come across it.”

“The scans show that he’s healthy, and I’ve been through it before so I’m just excited,” said Sadie, who is also mother to an older daughter.

Sadie’s case is being treated as a heterotopic pregnancy, whereby one baby develops outside the uterus and the other develops within. This reportedly affects every one-in-30,000 women.

The couple’s baby, who has already been named Teddy, is due for November.
