We all know that there are certain times of the year that make us feel really happy, and other times when we long for the month to end. However, results of an One4all survey have finally found out the time of year when we all feel the happiest of all – Christmas.

Ireland’s leading gift card company found that 83% of people believe the festive season is the happiest occasion of the year, with just under half voting Christmas Eve as the stage when they feel most happy.

And it’s not just because we get gifts at this time of the year that makes us feel happy; in fact, most people say giving a present makes them feel happier than receiving one. Such is our love of giving presents to loved ones that over a third  say watching others open presents on Christmas day brings them more joy than waking up on Christmas morning or eating Christmas dinner.

The One4all research finds we tend to be creatures of habit at Christmas, with 9 out of 10 saying they like to keep the same traditions year in, year out. Not surprising, watching the Late Late Toy Show is our best-loved tradition no matter how young or old we are.

Listening to Christmas FM is now another firm festive favourite in Irish society which was voted in second place!

Commenting on the findings Aoife Davey, group marketing manager for One4all Ireland, said: “Our research finds that the simple act of giving a loved one a gift makes us happier than anything else during the festive season. So this Christmas, we are encouraging Happy Gifting with One4all!

“A One4all Gift Card means something different to every recipient, it could be a shopping spree, a weekend away or new gadget! It’s what happiness means to them, it’s personal and giving a gift you know will bring happiness is what Christmas is all about.”
