It is a worrying time for people all over the country this week. Firstly, it was reported that a teenager was approached three times by a strange man in Donegal, and now an arrest has been made after an alleged assault in County Kerry.

According to reports, authorities in Killarney are investigating claims of an alleged assault on a young girl in the demesne area of Killarney National Park.

The incident is believed to have occurred yesterday evening, Wednesday, between 5pm and 6pm. Gardaí were first contacted in relation to the incident at 7pm.

The location of the alleged assault is a popular walking and cycling spot for locals and tourists. Sources claim that authorities reported to the scene at a wooded area of Knockreer, off a public path and nearby St Mary’s Cathedral.

Gardaí went on to arrest a man in connection with the incident, and they believe that he is known to the alleged victim. He is currently being held at Killarney Garda Station, where he is being questioned over the incident.

As the second such report in two days, this is very disturbing information to hear. This just further reiterates the need to be safe and vigilant when out alone, at any age.
