Following the shocking murder of a 30-year-old woman in Belfast, police have arrested a man in connection with her death.

Jennifer Dornan, whose father made a heartbreaking appeal to the public for information, was found dead in the home she shared with her three children in the early hours of Sunday morning.

While police have not revealed the nature of Jennifer's injuries, it has been established that her murderer set the house ablaze in order to conceal his crime.

Elaborating on this, Detective Superintendent, Kevin Geddes, said: "It is certainly my belief that whoever started the fire did so in order to destroy evidence."

Paying tribute to the young woman, Mr Geddes said: "Jennifer, we know was a young mum. Jennifer was very, very popular. Jennifer was very active in the community."

Speaking at a vigil held in honour of her friend earlier this week, Tania Watson said: "Everybody loved her - no one had a bad word to say about her. Not one person here tonight will ever forget Jennifer - and the person that she was."

Expressing disbelief at the heinous nature of her untimely demise, Mr. Geddes finished by saying: "At this stage we don’t know why Jennifer died or why somebody would choose to kill her."

The 39-year-old suspect has been detained in Belfast.
