If you've ever known the awkwardness of trying to get a seat on the train while pregnant, well, Irish Rail has had you in mind.
Iarnród Éireann has issued around 400 'baby on board' badges to expecting mums on a trial basis, in order to prompt commuters to give up their seats for pregnant women, the Irish Independent reports.
As well, the uncomfortable factor of trying to find a train seat while expecting is amplified when it's not immediately evident you're a mum-to-be.
In that regard, Irish Rail says the 'baby on board' badges have served as a useful signal.
"In the case of expectant mothers, sometimes it’s not clear to people sitting down. We have had some considerate fathers getting the badges for their partners," Barry Kenny, corporate communications manager with Irish Rail, said on Newstalk Breakfast.
"The initial response has been positive," he also noted.

He continued, "We have busy trains and if you're travelling anywhere in the world, there are going to be people sitting and some people standing but some people need seats more than others."
