The female condom is larger and looser than a male condom. The closed end of the female condom fits over the cervix inside the vagina, and the open end is just outside the body, protecting the lips of the vagina. Female condoms are made from polyurethane and become very soft once inside the vagina. It is a very effective birth control method, and also protects both partners from sexually transmitted diseases (STIs) including AIDS.

As with male condoms, female condoms can be bought by anyone without prescription from pharmacies. Female condoms are more expensive than male condoms. You might want to practice putting it into place if you are using it for the first time. Female condoms can be inserted ahead of time, so lovemaking will not be interrupted.

Although a little odd-looking, most women find female condoms very comfortable. Men like them for their comfort and the fact that they do not have to pull out once they have ejaculated. Another reason why women like them is because it allows them safety over their own bodies.
