There wasn't a dry eye on the ward when a five-year-old boy, who is currently battling Leukaemia, decided to get down on one knee and pop that all-important question to his favourite nurse at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego.

Gideon Robinson, who was diagnosed with the disease in November last year, has moved social media users to tears in recent days as they bore witness to a very special moment in his young life.

Producing a ring for a nurse he calls 'Tall Sarah', Gideon warmed the hearts of all those present when he took a deep breath and made his feelings known for the kindhearted, lego-profferring young woman who he has christened 'Tall Sararh'.

Speaking to KTLA-5, the brave young boy, who has thankfully been given a positive prognosis, left no doubt that he is a true romantic at heart by explaining he fashioned the ring himself and admitted that all he wants to do is "make Sarah laugh".

Captured on film by his equally brave and very proud mum, Gideon certainly made Sarah's day as she graciously accepted his proposal.

Take a look at this!
