Given how so many parents shelled out hundreds to secure a Hatchimals toy at Christmas, we’re not sure whether the following qualifies as good or bad news!

The makers of Hatchimals, the must-have toy of 2016, have announced plans to release an ‘affordable’ range of the interactive toys.

Two new toys were unveiled at last weekend’s New York Toy Fair: Hatchimals Glitter and Hatchimals Colleggtibles.

Hatchimals Glitter are almost identical to the original model, except they bear a glittery sheen and feature new songs and sounds. This new range will retail at the same price as the originals - $59.99 (around €57).

It’s the Colleggtibles that are causing a stir this week, however; these miniature versions are about a tenth of the size the original Hatchimals. With a heat-sensitive function that makes the egg change colour, these pocket-sized toys will retail at just €2.99,

So, if you’re little one wasn’t lucky enough to get their hands on a Hatchimal at Christmastime, they could soon be able to buy their own – with their pocket money!

Hatchimals gave parents all over the world a bit of a headache during the festive season. With demand exceeding supply, the toys were popping up on eBay for five times their value.

The new range is launching this spring. Will you be investing?
