According to emerging reports, three of the Erasmus students involved in this morning's coach crash in Spain were students at University College Cork and studying at Barcelona University.

Earlier today, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Charlie Flanagan, confirmed that some of the individuals travelling on the ill-fated bus were indeed Irish, saying: "This morning's bus crash in Tarragona, Spain is a truly tragic incident."

"I can confirm that two young Irish people have received non life-threatening injuries and my Department has been in contact with their families," he explained. "Ambassador Cooney and his team at the Embassy in Madrid are working to establish the facts of the situation."

Since Minister Flanagan's statement, it has been established that three UCC were in fact involved, but thankfully two emerged from the collision completely uninjured while the third is understood to have sustained minor injuries and has already been discharged from hospital.

According to the Irish Independent, UCC have confirmed that they will not be releasing the names of the students involved, but are currently liasing with the individuals and their families in the wake of this morning's shocking incident.

The bus which was carrying sixty passengers collided with another vehicle and overturned on the AP-7 between Barecelona and Valencia at approximately 6am this morning.
