The brother of two men suspected of taking part in the worst terrorist attacks Europe has seen since the Madrid bombing of 2004 has expressed disbelief that his siblings could have been involved in Friday night's atrocities in the French capital.

Mohamed Addeslam spoke to reporters outside his home in Brussels and struggled to comprehend the accusation levelled at his two siblings - one of whom is dead while the other is still in hiding.

Speaking to the press regarding the whereabouts of his brother, Salah Abdeslam, Mohamed insisted his family are unaware of his current location.

"We don’t know where he is right now. We don’t know, given the current tensions, whether or not he dares to hand himself in," he told clamouring reporters today.

Mohamed, who was questioned by police before being released without charge today, explained that his family are currently in a state of shock following the weekend's events.

"Despite the tragedy, my parents are in shock and have not yet grasped everything that has happened," he said, having categorically denied any involvement in the terrorist acts which left 129 people dead on Friday night.

Commenting on the family life he enjoyed with his siblings, Mohamed, who works for the local government, continued: "I can’t tell you why and I can’t tell you how. We are an honest family. We have never had any problems with the police."

Our thoughts remain with all those affected by the weekend's devastating events.
