It seems that Dyke's comments have not been tolerated by the BBC, with news emerging this evening that the presenter has been suspended.

A BBC spokesperson this evening told The Huffington Post: "Following unacceptable comments made on air yesterday, Alex Dyke been suspended pending an investigation, so he will not be on air tomorrow."

It is a topic that has, in recent times, led to heated debates and demonstrations, so this presenter was never going to get away with his controversial comments about breastfeeding.

Mothers around the UK were left annoyed this week when BBC radio host Alex Dyke branded breastfeeding “unnatural”.

“I’ve got one of those taboo subjects that I want to talk about,” Dyke began, adding, “There’s stuff that, particularly in this day and age, guys should say. I’m going to tell you what guys are thinking. It’s 2015. Ladies, mums – we don’t like breastfeeding in public. We don’t. Honestly.”

The Radio Solent show presenter proceeded to add: “Breastfeeding’s unnatural. It’s the kind of thing that should be done in a quiet and private nursery. We don’t want it in public, do we fellas? Ladies, maybe you agree with me?”

In one of the most infuriating parts of his segment, he even went so far as to suggest that only good-looking women should be allowed to breastfeed in public.

Recalling incidents where he has seen women with “moustaches” breastfeeding in public, he said went on to blast them for “putting me in an embarrassing situation”.

Needless to say, Dyke’s comments did not go down well with his listeners, and a petition has now been launched to remove him from the airwaves.

A BBC spokesperson has apologised for Dyke’s shocking comments in a statement, saying bosses have "made it clear to Alex that his comments were very ill-judged".
