You truly never know what is going on in another person’s life, or the impact of your actions towards them, so the golden rule is always to be kind and patient with those whom you meet.

This was proven perfectly by Kristen C, a grocery store cashier in the US who ‘brightened’ a sad little boy’s day with a very simple but kind gesture.

It was the boy’s mother, Kimberly Grandinette, who took to Facebook to share the story, explaining that things haven’t been particularly easy for her or her family in recent weeks.

“I was telling the cashier that my infant son is in the hospital right now and that my three-year-old is having a pretty rough time with all of the changes in routine, and changes at home it is causing,” she wrote, in a now viral Facebook post.

I just wanted to tell you about an awesome experience I had today. My three year old son and I went through the checkout...

Just then, the little boy in question asked the cashier if he could help her ring through the groceries. While others may have been worried about potentially making a mistake with their sale, Kristen C was only too happy to oblige – and it was very much appreciated both by the little boy and his mother.

“She was so patient with him as she let him help her scan the coupons, and she made him feel like a million bucks. He skipped out of the store with a smile on his face,” Kimberly wrote.

As you can imagine, Kristen’s kind gesture has made waves online, with Kimberly’s post being shared thousands of times.

This just goes to prove that a simple act of kindness can make all the difference to someone's day.
