Causeway Coffee delighted to be a Grow with Aldi finalist for 2022!

Graham Watts & Chris McDaid met over a cup of coffee – and there the story of Causeway Coffee began.

Looking to improve the coffee they had at home, they figured they could create a coffee which would be better than that of the high street coffee chains. They knew they had to learn a bit more though - why does one coffee taste better than another?

Commenting on the process, Graham says:

“It was a surprise to both of us that it was cheap and easy to get into. It was amazing how brewing good coffee with just a cafetiere and some specific instructions could transform the taste. No expertise or talent needed. “

They wanted to appreciate coffee for its taste and not just as a routine drink. They quickly found that the difference between a good coffee and a regular coffee is like night and day. Freshly ground quality coffee versus stale coffee seems an obvious solution but how do you choose?

For them, it wasn't about being pretentious or fancy or judging other coffee drinks by being able to taste a hint of chocolate or a trace of caramel in our coffee.

And thus began Causeway Coffee – name as they are both from The North Coast of Northern Ireland, which is home to the Giant’s Causeway – a perfect fit.

So why not join them on their journey as they roast the very best ethically sourced coffee, delivered in letterbox friendly packaging, with brew guides to help you bring out the magic of every coffee? And from the 19th May – you can do just that, as Causeway Coffee will be available in stores nationwide as part of the Grow with Aldi series.

Committed to supporting Irish suppliers, Grow with Aldi is designed to help the very best Irish suppliers develop their brand. To date, they have invested €5 million in the Grow with Aldi development programme in a bid to find the very best Irish suppliers and bring them in store.
