A ceremony was held this morning in Glasnevin Cemetery to remember the 40 children who died during the 1916 Rising.

Roughly 300 people attended to remember and pay their respects to the lost lives.

Joe Duffy opened the ceremony after shedding light on the number of children who were killed in that period.

Music and readings were used to remember them all in a multi-faith ceremony.

Relatives of some of the known victims laid wreaths at the commemorative wall for the victims of 1916.

Finally, 40 balloons were released into the Dublin skies to mark the 40 children who lost their lives during Easter week 100 years ago.
