There are certain things that bond two friends together: shared interests and experiences, loved ones – the list goes on. When these childhood pals dug a little deeper into their connection however, they made a startling discovery.

Two men born on the same day in June 1975 have just found out that they were switched at birth.

According to reports, Canadians Luke Monias and Norman Barkman were the victims of a major blunder after their birth, at the Norway House Indian Hospital in Manitoba.

Growing up, the pair were the subject of many jokes, with those around them suggesting that one looked more like the other’s family. Following years of rumours, the pair recently decided to set the record straight by undertaking DNA tests.

According to the Toronto Star, the test confirmed what the boys had tentatively suspected – they were, indeed, swapped at birth.

The pair are understandably devastated by the revelations and have demanded answers – and an apology – from the Canadian government.

A legal official who has taken on the men’s case told local media: “The mental, physical, and spiritual well-being of both men has been deeply affected by the loss of their proper identity.”

In spite of the dramatic turn of events, both Monias and Barkman have pledged to remain ‘brothers’.
