The US Consumer Product Safety Commission created the following powerful video to warn parents everywhere of the hidden dangers that unanchored furniture pose to your children.
“On average, one child dies every two weeks when furniture, a TV or an appliance falls onto him or her. By anchoring large furniture, televisions and appliances, these terrible tragedies can be prevented,” reads the caption on the warning video.
The video features a ‘child’ (a dummy) climbing up on a large dresser, atop of which sits a TV set. The danger of the scene is all-too real as the dummy is shown balancing on one of the drawers – much like any child would be tempted to do; what happens next is frightening.
