Community devastated following the death of a mum and her baby

A community in Pennsylvania has been left reeling following the recent tragic death of a 22-year-old mum and her nine-month-old son.

Sara Kessler and her baby boy, Casey, were discovered in Sara's apartment after family members hadn't heard from them in over a week.

It is suspected that Sara, who was struggling to cope with the death of her own mum, died following an overdose while her little boy is believed to have passed away some time later from dehydration.

Commenting on the tragic incident, a neighbour of the young mum said: "She seemed so sad her mom was gone. I told her if she needed anything to ask me, but she never did."

According to accounts, Sara and her little boy enjoyed a close relationship, with the neighbour going on to say: "She loved that little baby. He was such a beautiful little boy. She told me, 'I can't believe he's going to be almost a year old. He's getting so big."

Devastated family members opened up about the tragedy, with the young mum's cousin saying: "She was a good-hearted girl, a good person, trying her darndest to raise the child alone."
