Finding out that a family member has a short time left with us is one of the hardest things to come to terms with, and so naturally we will pull out all of the stops to grant them their final wishes.

Thankfully for air hostess Kristy Stimmel, her boyfriend and employees, Alaska Airlines, were right behind her when she decided to cross three of her dying mother Billy Jo’s bucket-list wishes off at once.

Billy Jo was recently diagnosed with stage four lung cancer, and upon sharing the sad news with Kristy she revealed three of her big wishes: to see where her daughter lived in Washington, to fly on an Alaska Airlines plane where Kristy works, and to see her marry the ‘love of her life’ Jim.

With the help of friends, family and Alaska Airlines, Billy Jo watched her daughter wed her husband at 35,000 feet in the air, on a flight to Kristy’s home city.

Billy Jo had a front-row seat as an emotional Kristy exchanged vows with Jim, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house as they were pronounced man and wife by their pastor.

Fellow passengers blew bubbles and threw confetti as the newlyweds made their way down the ‘aisle’, while an overwhelmed Billy Jo described the experience as “pretty spectacular”.
