No matter how vigilant we are on a day-to-day basis, incidents and accidents happen, and anyone who has lost a child for any amount of time will know how truly terrifying an experience it is.

Andrew Purcell is one person who knows this feeling only too well, having lost his son in a busy shopping centre after turning away for a matter of mere seconds.

Thankfully, Andrew was reunited with his son shortly afterwards, but the experience had a serious impact on him. Driven to do something to allay worried parents’ concerns, Andrew designed the Child Angel.

The Child Angel is a wearable tracking device for kids, designed to let parents know of their whereabouts at all times. Connected to the parent’s smartphone, the Child Angel is an innovative creation that could save lives.

After three years of research and prototyping, the Child Angel works off of technology which combines GPS, GSM and WiFi, and relays messages directly back to the parent's phone.

Due to launch next month, the Child Angel has been designed to give parents total peace of mind about their children’s whereabouts. The ‘I’m Lost’ feature will alert parents immediately, while setting foot outside of a ‘SafeZone’ will have the same effect.

Explaining the motivation behind developing the Child Angel, Andrew said: “Once kids are up on their feet, they naturally want to explore the world they live in – we don’t want to shackle children or alter their inquisitive nature, we simply want to give parents that total peace of mind, allowing them to know where their little ones are at all times of day, whether they’re at school, at a relatives’, playing at a park or on the way home.”

We imagine a lot of parents will be investing. For more information about the Child Angel, visit the website at www.child-angel.com.
