There has been a disturbing number of reports detailing shocking revelations made at day care centres in recent times, and unfortunately we have yet another one to share today.

A Texas-based day care centre has been shut down after a couple’s child was found with a staggering 27 bites to its body – all inflicted by another child, apparently.

John and Jeanette Betancourt arrived to collect their four-month-old son from his San Antonio day care centre last Friday when they made the shocking discovery.

While the day care operator had called in advance to notify the couple that their son had been bitten, she had not disclosed the severity of the situation – and, they claim, she had waited a number of hours before making the call, waiting for the marks to fade.

Recalling the moment they saw their child’s injuries, dad John told local media: “She finally turns my son around and the first thing my wife notices is his legs.”

The child was bearing 27 bites in all, covering not only his legs but also his eye area, cheeks, stomach and back. All bites had been inflicted by another child at the day care centre.

Authorities were immediately alerted over the incident, and after investigation they discovered that the owner – who ran the centre in her home – had been operating her business without a licence for eight years. The Betancourts claim that the owner had produced a licence when they first visited the business.

The woman is now being probed by the San Antonio Police Department, and she could face charges.

The Betancourts confirmed today that their son is “doing fine now”.
