In light of the recent spate of horror stories documenting maltreatment at schools and day care centres, it should be comforting to hear of the lengths one woman went to, to protect a group of children. However, the story of Martha McClure, the owner of Martha’s Mini Daycare in Montana, US is nothing short of terrifying.

Last week, McClure was looking after three toddlers who had previously been removed from the care of their father, Francis Jackson, when she endured a horrific attack.

According to reports, Jackson – who had previously been banned from seeing his children – broke mandate by attempting to pick the little ones up from McClure’s day care centre. He was accompanied by an unidentified woman.

After Jackson made several attempts to get to his children, McClure locked the kids inside the centre and walked out to meet him, brandishing a snow shovel. It was at this point that Jackson and his accomplice viciously attacked McClure.

While the woman fled the scene, Jackson was arrested shortly after and has since been charged with aggravated burglary and custodial interference.

McClure, meanwhile, has been left with facial scarring and bruising on her face, and she has had to undergo eye surgery this week. A friend of hers has since set up a GoFundMe page (link here) to help fund her medical bills.

What a shocking ordeal to endure. We hope that Martha makes a full and speedy recovery.
