I buy Denny's crumbed ham (2X 10 slices at least) each week. I have a teenager who is school going and a college student and they bring ham sandwiches for lunch every day. They are also heavily involved in sport and are forever grazing in the evening time after their dinner so toasted sandwiches are always on the menu.
Denny's is a brand going back to my own childhood and I always buy it. I particularly like the crumbed ham as it tastes like christmas ham. It's not shiny and processed . I am very conscious of what I feed my family and I always where possible try to cook with natural/organic ingredients .This ham fits in nicely with the diet as I am particularly happy that it does not have articicial additives or preservatives.
I am happy to buy this product as when it was delivered to my house for the trial, it was lunch time so my sons and husband devoured it.! All the flavours were nice but I still think the crumbed version is the best.

I recived my Denny trail pack on Friday so far we have tasted the Crumb Coated Thicker cut ham.The slices are very tasty but 3 slices is not enough for a family and they could do with being a little bigger. The meat itself is moist and meaty.I had it with a salad and found the meal very filling so far I have found this product to be of a very good standard will keep you up dated on the other packets.

Thanks :)

I received my three packs on Friday and they are all gone OMG! It's Sunday by the way. I have two hungry boys (8 and 12) and if there is anything to snack on, they source it out and demolish it! For once I didn't mind though because it is 100% natural ingredients which means they snacked healthy.
Thankfully I had a chance to try two of the packs before they finished them off. My favourite was the crumb coated ham. It had a lovely texture to it and went well with my salad of cooled potatoes, lettuce, spring onion and mayo. Although I love oak smoked ham, I found this particular one a little strong flavoured. It over took my ham lettuce and tomato sambo and the taste lingered. The thickness of the slices are perfect as you feel like you’re eating meat in your salad as some thin sliced meats get lost in your salad.

I do think the packaging is perfect for me, as I would eat that size portion in a day or two, however, as I mentioned above I have two hungry boys and the portion size is far too small for them. If there was a family pack also that would ideal because I give them Ham Rolls for their lunches and this would be a nice thick ham to use. I also add ham to some dishes, for example, my own version of carbonara and this thicker cut ham would be ideal. As it is natural ingredients also, it saves time on buying fresh ham, cooking it, chopping it up and then cooking the carbonara, so it is timesaving too.

Bottom line, I will buy this ham for myself (and hide it) and will hold out for a family pack before I buy for my family. Great product though. Love that the ingredients are natural.

My tester pack of Denny 100% Natural hams arrived on Friday. All 3 packs were enthusiastically devoured within 24 hoursTongue!!

We eat ham fairly regularly in our house, usually at least a pack of ham slices per week. We use it for school lunches, home lunches (especially at weekends), my work lunches, snacks and the occasional dinner (carbonara style, omlette, pizza etc).

It is easy enough to tell that these packs are part of the Denny Deli Style 100% Natural Ingredients Ham range as the packaging has its own style. Also the ham itself looks a bit different to your average sliced ham: a bit more "home style" maybe? Also it is definitely a case of quality over quantity, since there is only 3 thicker but smaller slices.

I think the fact that this ham has no artificial additives and preservatives is going to be its biggest selling point. With so much publicity in the past year about the bad effects of too much processed meat in your diet, most people will be willing to pay slightly more for a ham that claims it has 100% natural ingredients. Especially anyone who is regularly putting ham into their childrens lunch boxes. It is extremely important to me, and helps me to feel like I am attempting to keep my family healthy.

I found all the 3 types of the Denny ham tasted great. If I had to choose a favourite, it would be the honey glazed one - it was really delicious. We used the honey glazed and the oak smoked ones in sandwiches, and they were lovely. The crumb coated slices made it into an omlette with peppers and cheese, and it was really gorgeous. The thicker slices are great to cook with.

I would consider buying this ham again, especially if I saw it on special offer. I would love to try a carbonara dish with it.

Overall, both I and my family liked this ham a lot. My only critcism would be the size of the packs. We have 3 adults and 3 children in our home, so the ham didn't go far at all! A family sized pack would be great!

Thanks for the opportunity to take part in the trial - it was an enjoyable experience Big smile

We are all ham eaters in my house from adults to kids and enjoy a slice
of ham for lunch in sandwiches. There would always be someone looking for a ham sandwich in my house most days and I would mainly use ham for sandwiches. I buy Denny's ham as it tastes like real cooked ham. On receiving my ham on Saturday, I could see that it was part of the 100% Natural Ingredients Ham range. It is very important to me that it has no artificial additives or preservatives.

We all enjoyed trying the 3 flavours of ham. My favourite was the Honey Glazed and the kids loved the Crumb Coated the best. I found the Oak Smoked very smokey and would buy the other 2 flavours over this one. For a family of five, I found a pack with 3 slices not sufficient. I know the slices are thicker cut but the slices are small and you would need 2 slices per sandwich for growing teenagers. So that's alot of packets of ham for lunch!

I did like the taste and I would buy the ham but maybe use it other than in sandwiches. I think it would be great in salads, chopped up in pasta or even in an omelette. It would even be great for a quick dinner served with some mashed potatoes. I think I will still buy the Denny family pack of ham for the sandwiches but I have no complaints about the taste or quality of the new Thicker Cut Ham.

Thanks very much for sending me the cute box of thicker ham last week. We happened to be having pizza night on Friday with friends, so the timing for trial was perfect.
I like to make the families meals from scratch making things like baked potatoes, homemade pizza and warm salads for us each week and for these kinds of meals, I like to use thicker ham as the thinner slices are, well, just too thin!
This ham reminds me of the ham my mum used to make. She’d cut thick slices of it for our dinner having cooked it freshly. The Denny thicker ham is as good as my mum used to make.
We used each of the different flavours on Friday night making different pizza with each type. The jury was pretty evenly split across the 3 different types although I have to admit to preferring the crumbed ham but that’s just personal preference.
Since I found out Denny had taken all of the bad stuff out of their hams, I’ve been buying them regularly – they are never shiny or processed looking and the fact that there is no added bad stuff makes me feel happier about eating ham.
I love the pack size – I prefer smaller packs so that the ham doesn’t go off so I was really happy with the size of the packs and the 3 thick slices of meat in each one. There was one slice left over on Saturday and I made a quick ham and mushroom omelette which I hadn’t had for a while – it tasted great and using a slice was just enough to give a nice taste to lunch.
I would definitely buy this ham again – having used it, I see it as being different to the normal slices of Denny ham. I’d buy the thicker ham to go alongside my normal ham but would use it for cooking.
Thanks for including me in this trial.

We are a small household who most definitely eat ham but up until I joined this group, I hadn’t heard about Denny 100% natural ham. I’m a new mum so am only learning about these things now.
Each day, my husband and I make lunch for work to save money. Up until this, we were buying sandwiches and even if we stuck to the cheapest options we were spending at least €5 per day which is €50 per week. So it’s been an easy option to cut back on. I’ve been buying own label ham (sorry) not realising how much crap they put in it. I only looked at the back of the packs after you sent me this ham and realised how badly we have been eating. So I’m now a convert.
We have used the ham in a few different ways. I made frying pan quesadillas with the first packet (where you put a dry tortilla, diced ham and cheese in a frying pan, cover with another flour tortilla and cook for a few mins on each side) and they were really yummy. I diced the ham into chunks so it was like having proper home cooked ham to use.
On Sunday I made a turkey, ham and brie salad – it’s a recipe from many summer evenings on hols in France before the baby arrived(!) where you cook the turkey through, add the diced ham and brie and cook a little. Drizzle some balsamic vinegar in the pan to warm it through and pour over salad leaves, cucumber and tomatoes. OMG – it’s to die for. I used my second pack of ham for this and it was perfect for the two of us. I wouldn’t have considered ever making this with ‘normal’ sliced ham but these thicker slices were just right.
The last pack was used for our sambos on Monday – they were better than the deli ones we used to buy as the meat was better quality and had lovely café feel to it because it was nice and thick.
It would normally be unusual for us to eat that much ham in a weekend but knowing that Denny ham is natural made me feel good about my meal choices. The size of the packet was good although if I was asked for one improvement, I’d also like a bigger pack as we make quite a few lunches during the week!
I will buy the Denny Thicker Cut ham again for sure. I’m ok with the price of it too as I now believe you get what you pay for.

Thanks so much for including us in this trial, me and my hubby just loved it. We regularly eat ham anyway, and we always buy the Denny 100% Natural one - like so many other mums, I'm very conscious of having healthy natural food for us and the kids. And with the guarantee that this ham contains no artificial additives and preservatives, I'm happy to buy it every week.

The packets arrived at the weekend, and we decided we'd have pasta, the thicker cut slices are brilliant for dinners, and made a fabulous carbonara (used the Oak Smoked which I absolutely love!!). We also used the ham the following day for an omelette (used the Honey Glazed) for lunch, and it was gorgeous.

I have to say ... the thicker cut slices make meal times pretty easy, which is fantastic for us, especially during the week when evenings are just a blur of 'busy-ness'!

We used the Crumb Coated for lunches, which were a resounding success. I always think the sandwich is the real test of a product - you really get to taste it on its own. And it's full marks on the sandwich taste test for us. :)

The only problem is that I can choose which one I like best, perhpas the Oak Smoked, but honestly I really enjoyed all three.

As I said, we're already big fans of the 100% Naturay Denny ham, and we will definitely be adding the thicker cut slices to the shopping trolley.

Thanks so much for letting us test this, it was really enjoyable.

My ham arrived last Saturday in a lovely pizza box style, the presentation was lovely, my husband wasn't in work till Monday so I made the sandwiches then and also for my son in crèche, the ham was devoured! He said he was fond of the traditional ham not much favour but very meaty and tasted like ham out of a pot not processed or watery and was salty but very satisfying and very filling,
We all enjoyed the hickory smoked more the flavour was fab :-) the favour lingered a bit after too,
All the meat was nice and juicy but the only downfall is 3 slices isn't enough even for a family of 3 I know this ham is designed for salads and baked potatoes and pasta , but I still enjoyed my sandwiches
I'm delighted that the ham is 100% natural and great for my toddler to eat as a snack :-)
Thanks again for letting me take part in your trial :-)

I was delighted to be selected for this trial and i was highly impressed by the lovely package that arrived for me in the post. It made the experience of trying it out even more fun! So, down to the review....

We would generally buy at least one packet of ham a week. I would say we are fairly regular consumers of ham. We are not loyal to one particular brand. Taste and value for money are the most important factors for us. In recent times, we have become quite dissatisfied with some brands where the slices are so thin that it ends up tasteless and bland. We have been getting annoyed paying for ham which is almost see through and as thin as paper.

The kids would have ham for sandwiches in lunchboxes during the school year and at the weekend they would have it for teatime in the evening. Personally, I like ham on it’s own with a nice salad but that only works if the ham is tasty enough to eat by itself, rather than in a bread roll or sandwich. Also, we would have ham at the weekends for lunch in the middle of the day in omelettes or as a meaty topping for pizzas. I am conscious that we should all eat enough protein and iron so I find that ham is a good way of getting these and other important nutrients.

I did recognise that the ham was part of the Denny Deli Style100% Natural Ingredients range and I do think that it perfectly complements the existing Denny range of hams as there was a gap there where there were no “thicker sliced” varieties on offer.

I was happy to hear that it has no artificial additives or preservatives. This would be important to me but I would not go out of my way to buy ham with these features. I was surprised to note that it is in fact the only ham in the Irish market with these features. It’s great to hear that the ham is natural and healthy but to be honest, the taste and value for money would be more of a concern to me at the moment.

We all enjoyed it at home – nobody had any complaints. Being thicker, it was more flavoursome and tasty. It had a more “authentic and real” taste rather than some of the synthetic brands you can buy nowadays.

We liked the Oak Smoked the best. I think the reason was that it was different and not like the usual hams we buy. The taste had a nice and unusual kick to it and it was a winner for everyone in our house.

I would consider buying this ham in the future. I was delighted to see that the launch price is only 1.50 and that makes a great bargain. Even the RRP of 1.99 is very good value too. One thing I would like would be a larger family size pack with more pieces, the 3 slice packs didn’t go far in our household of hungry monsters. I think a pack with more slices would definitely be a good idea. There is no doubt that this delicious ham makes for a very healthy sandwich and a much nicer alternative to the soggy, shop bought sandwiches you can buy, where the ham is paper thin! I also think a few slices would go very well with a nice healthy salad. I think it would also make a fine addition to dinner time as an extra topping on pizzas, omelettes or mixed through a pasta carbonara. Ham is a clever way to get protein and iron into your diet in a tasty and nutritious way and I would definitely recommend the new Denny Deli Style 100% natural ingredients range!

Thanks a million for choosing me to take part :)

Thanks so much to Mummy Pages and Denny for involving me and my family in this trial. We were already Denny customers, and would pretty much eat ham on a daily basis, i.e., in Sandwiches, omelettes, toasties, carbonara etc.. I loved the new thicker slice ham, so tasty, and nice and thick for cutting into chunks in a salad. I was also delighted that it is part of the Denny Deli Style 100% Natural Ingredients Ham range. It’s great to know that what you are feeding your family is 100% natural. I really enjoyed the oak smoked, as it was so tasty and I am a big fan of smoked meats. I used it in a Carbonara, and an Omelette and it was delicious. I will definitely be adding this new product from Denny to my shopping list as it was a firm family favourite.

Hi MummyPages!
We would eat ham most days.. in salads, omlettes in sambos, & in with pasta. At lunch times in sambos / rolls, and dinner time for the pasta, salads & omlettes.
Dennys 100% ham is my favourite on the market so straight off I knew from the packaging it was from the same 100&% natural ingredients ham.
The taste was just like real ham.. I love it & now a dedicated buyer!! Its more meaty.
My favourive was the honey glazed with coated crumb a close second, I was never a fan of smokey ham.
Yes im a newly dedicated Denny Deli Style 100% Natural Ingredients Thicker Cut Ham customer! Love it!
never thought of the baked potato topping so theres another one to the list!
Thanks Mummy pages & Denny for letting me try this new product!
PS.The delivery man was so nice too! So thanks a mill to him too! :)

Off to good start with friendly delivery guy! Really enjoyed the ham , very tasty and enjoyable to eat knowing it is 100% natural. I liked the packaging- seemed more rustic than the usual thick plastic packets. My first impression on opening the packet was " that won't go far" .. 3 small slices however thick don't stretch to many sandwiches. All 3 hams were very tasty, the oak smoked especially good in a toasted sandwich with cheese.
I didn't actually use any of it for anything other than sandwiches, but I would imagine it would be very tasty with a baked potato or pasta, and much handier than frying bacon.
But the amount is just not enough to feed a family and I would need to buy 2 packs, to make enough lunch for the three of us, which I wouldn't be willing to do- I'd rather buy one packet of the thinner ham.
I would however buy them for adding to pasta or baked potato, but definitely not for sandwiches.
Thanks for selecting me to try the ham- I'm glad I have an alternative to bacon pieces!

We would use Denny Ham at least 3 times a week. Since the launch of the new range I'm very happy as a mother of five to use this brand in my childrens scholl lunchs and on family picnics. I would often eat it myself if Im rushing in and out of the house and don't have time to prepare lunch for myself. I eat a slice or two on Ryvita with tomato and Mustard. Its a good low fat option too. Yes I did recognise the HAm I recieved was part of the new 100% Natural range. I wouldn't eat any other range since learning the dangers of artificial preservatives. The is a direct link with sodium nitrate and bowel cancer. Wew really enjoyed the thicker range, I used it in Omelettes and Pasta dishes. The Oak smoked was lovely with pasta, maybe more suited to adult taste buds but the Honey Glazed one was really delicious too.
Thank you Denny and Mummy Pages for the samples. We would highly recommend this Ham to any family.

My family wolfed this down. My husband's favourite one was the honey one and my daughter's was the crumbed one. They both liked the smoked one and my husband said would he would use it in carbonara but it didn't last that long!
He tried using one of the slices on a pizza but he found it too thick. He normally uses the deli style Denny ham the thin version for that so he'll stick with that for pizza.

We will definitely be buying this again. I hope the 3 slices pack were just for the samples otherwise we'll be buying a few packs every week!

My 5 year old daughter was very disappointed when it was all gone. It didn't even last long enough to get put in her school lunch sandwich!

Thanks very much for letting us take part in this trial.
