You can’t put a price on precious memories with a lost loved one, which is why we sincerely hope there is a positive end to this story for mum Stacey Mulcahy.

Limerick woman Stacey has appealed to the public for their help, after a thief stole and sold on her mobile phone containing in excess of 1000 photos and videos of her late daughter, Sophie.

Stacey told the Irish Mirror that the phone, a black Galaxy Note, was stolen by a thief posing as a customer in her Limerick City nail bar, Porcelain Doll. The culprit asked for an appointment and stole the phone at reception while Stacey was consulting her appointment book.

The ‘devastated’ mum insists that all she cares about is the phone’s SIM card, which contains photos and footage of eight-year-old Sophie’s final weeks. Sophie, who was born with a rare genetic heart disorder, passed away in October 2014.

While gardaí managed to apprehend the phone thief shortly after the theft on Friday evening, unfortunately the phone had already been sold on. Now, Stacey is urging whoever bought the phone to return it, or even just the most important part – the memory card.

“These are some of the last pictures we have of her, so they are really important. Especially the videos, because you can see Sophie and hear her…I am really appealing to people’s good nature on this,” she said.

Stacey is calling on the new phone owner to return it anonymously to Henry Street Garda Station, Limerick. Alternatively, you can bring it by her business, Porcelain Doll nail bar, in Fox’s Bow, Limerick City.
