To lose a child in such tragic circumstances is devastating enough, but when family members are involved it's even more distressing.

There was widespread heartbreak last week amid reports that an 11-month-old boy had died after being accidentally left in a car by his grandparents. While many voiced their frustration, insisting that they would never be able to forgive their parents for such a mistake, little Jaxon Taylor's mum has revealed the opposite.

Mandie Hendershot took to Facebook to address her family's tragedy and to pay tribute to her parents, Kyle and Meta.

The distraught mum added: "These are grandparents that were there through my long, 23-hour labour. These are the grandparents that took him some weekend nights and walked for hours when he had colic and was inconsolable...These people held and loved him when he was sick, feverish or fussy."

Addressing those who have commented negatively against her parents, Mandie went on to pose this question: "Who of us hasn't made a mistake, such a horrible mistake that we thought nobody else could forgive it?...I am in more pain than any human has ever experienced, but I chose to let go of hatred and blame. I remember my sweet boy with love and grief, and I will always love him."

It has since emerged that Jaxon was left in the car after a miscommunication between the Hendershots and their 19-year-old daughter, with each thinking that the others had brought the tot indoors and placed him down for a nap.

Our hearts go out to the entire family.
