It is undoubtedly one of the most difficult and devastating weeks of their lives, but a Perth couple have spoken out about their personal tragedy in a bid to warn and help other families.

An unnamed couple from Inglewood, Perth have warned others to be vigilant, after losing their 23-month-old daughter in a car accident at their home.

Toddler Savannah was struck while her father reversed his car in his driveway. She was rushed to local Princess Margaret Hospital, but she sadly lost her fight for life shortly after.

The incident is the second tragedy to befall the family in as many years; in 2015 they lost their second child, Gracie, who died at birth.

Confirming Savannah’s passing and thanking their community for their wishes, the couple issued a stark warning to families all over the world.

Speaking on behalf of the couple, a police representative said: “Savannah’s parents would like to warn all families about the dangers of reversing cars and children. Thank you for the outpouring of love for Savannah…Savannah is now with her sister Gracie in Heaven.”

“So small and so, so beautiful. You lit up the world with your eyes and blew it away with your cheeky smile. Forever in our hearts. Mum & Dad xxxx," they added.

Our hearts go out to the family at this devastating time.
