There were emotional scenes outside a court in Warrington today, as the loved ones of the Hillsborough victims broke into a rousing rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

The display was an emotionally-charged reaction to a court finding that the behaviour of the 96 people killed in the incident neither caused nor contributed to the tragedy.

The infamous tragedy occurred on April 15, 1989, ahead of an FA Cup semi-final game between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest.

A finding of unlawful killing was announced at today’s hearing, with the decision reportedly reached by a majority of seven out of nine jurors.

According to a report by Sky News, a person in the courtroom exclaimed “God bless the jury” after the finding was relayed.

After the hearing was drawn to a close, the families of the Hillsborough victims emerged from the court to give a spine-tingling rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone, a favourite club song among Liverpool FC fans.
