A number of stories and videos have appeared online over the past few weeks, urging parents to be aware of the dangers of keeping your children and animals in a hot car. Sadly, however, there has been another devastating fatality in the States.

According to reports this afternoon, an 11-month-old baby died in South Florida after its family forgot to take the child out of their car.

The parents and their four other children had arrived home from a trip to the supermarket, and left the child inside the car while they unloaded groceries from the boot.

The family proceeded to go inside their home, leaving the child behind in the car. It was only an hour later that they realised their error, and they raced outside to the child.

Despite calling the police and performing CPR, it was declared yesterday evening that the child had passed away.

Commenting on the tragic story, Lauderhill police spokesman Gregory Solowsky told local media: “The family is very, very upset. The entire family. The children, the parents. But they are cooperating with us and at this point it looks like it’s going to be a very, very tragic accident.”

“When we arrived here the family members, the mother and the father were still in the act of administering CPR themselves. You could clearly see they were very distraught over the fact that the child was unresponsive at that point. It’s a tragedy,” he added.
