Recently, a couple tied the knot thousands of miles up in the air to cross off the bride’s mum’s bucket list wishes, and the newlywed Meyers’ story is just as tear-jerking.

Darrell and Erica Meyers have touched hearts all over the world this week, after it was revealed that their family and friends banded together to throw them a zero-budget wedding in just two days – all so that Erica’s ill mother could see her daughter get married.

The New Jersey couple got engaged back in February 2007, but a wedding was the last thing on their minds after Erica’s mum Alicia Reyes was diagnosed with ovarian cancer shortly after.

The following months and years were spent helping out Erica’s mother, accompanying her to medical appointments and being there for the family.

When Alicia’s condition deteriorated, with her going to move to a hospice, Erica decided that she and Darrell needed to make their marriage official as soon as possible – because she couldn’t imagine her wedding without her mother.

The couple organised their marriage at the court house, and gave their family and friends two days’ notice to be free for a photo on the day. However, after confiding in a colleague, word of the plan reached Erica’s sister – and she decided that the bride- and groom-to-be deserved a much more special day.

So, with no budget and just two days to organise the wedding of Erica’s dreams, family and friends rallied together and reached out to a number of companies. What happened next was incredible.

Thanks to the generosity of these companies a makeup artist, a minister, flowers, the venue, a limo and a photographer were DONATED to the couple for free.

The couple got to enjoy the day of their dreams and, most importantly, Alicia was well enough to be able to make it out of her hospice bed and attend her daughter’s big day.

Speaking to ABC 6, an overwhelmed Darrell said: “They really made a miracle happen for us. They gave us a gift that is priceless.”

Erica added: “I will never forget what those people did for me. And I got my mom there. Thank God she made it.”
