A 24-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving following the death of 23-month-old Venessa Siatka in April of this year.

Ciaran Lane, with an address in Ashington Avenue Cabra, appeared before the Dublin District Court last Wednesday in relation to the incident and was ultimately charged with dangerous driving in addition to driving under the influence of an intoxicant.

The defendant was also charged with driving offences at numerous other locations, including Ashtown Grove and Maple Centre, Cabra.

Venessa's heartbroken father, Lukasz, paid tribute to the little girl they lost just one month before her second birthday, saying: "She was a happy, healthy and smiley little girl. If I had a bad day in work it all disappeared when I walked through the door."

"She made our troubles disappear," he said of the little girl who died in Temple Street Hospital one day after the tragic incident, which took place in one of Dublin's most famous landmarks.

While Mr. Lane has yet to enter a plea, he has been granted bail under strict conditions by residing judge Anthony Halpin.

Mr. Lane is due to appear at the Criminal Courts of Justice on November 25th this year before the case is sent to the Circuit Court.
