Gardaí in Co. Cork are appealing to the public for help following an assault which took place on a pregnant woman in the city yesterday evening.

According to authorities, the 25-year-old woman was on Princes Street at approximately 7.30pm when she was approached by three youths who assaulted her in a random and unprovoked attack.

The woman, who is six months pregnant, was punched in the face by one of the individuals who subsequently ran off in the direction of Patrick and French Church St with his accomplices.

Making her way to Anglesea Street Garda Station, the mum-to-be detailed the incident to concerned Gardaí, but refused medical attention.

Appealing to the wider public for assistance on the matter, Garda Tom Myers urged anyone with any information to contact the Anglesea station on 021-4522000.
