Just a day after the parents of a teenager in Britain made an appeal over her reported abduction, Gardaí have released a very disturbing report from Wexford.

The authorities have confirmed that they are currently investigating a report of the attempted kidnap of a six-year-old boy earlier this week.

The little boy, from Ardamine in Wexford, was reportedly playing with a group of friends on a green area in the local Dune Haven estate when he was approached by a man and a woman in a silver Nissan Almera.

According to the Irish Independent: “The man got out and went over to the children and asked if they wanted to get in the car, because he had sweets in the car.”

Gardaí were informed of the incident by the child’s father, who went on to describe how, when his son started to run home, the man “tried to grab him, but he didn’t lay his hands on him”. He added that most of the other children ran into a nearby garden to escape.

“He said that when he turned to look back, the man looked real angry and had his fists clenched. It’s extremely worrying for the area,” he reportedly added.

With reports such as these, it’s important to remind our children about stranger danger. Let’s hope that Gardaí will be able to trace this dangerous pair.
