In what is being referred to as a ‘landmark’ case, a 14-year-old British girl who died from cancer has been granted her wish to be cryogenically frozen – so she can come back in the future and be ‘cured’.

The girl, referred to only as ‘JS’, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer last year. She received a terminal diagnosis in August of this year, and began researching cryogenic freezing in a bid for a ‘second chance’.

While her wish to be frozen was supported by her mother, the girl’s father was against the idea. As a result, JS’ case went before the High Court.

Despite the fact that she could not attend her hearing, the teen wrote a heartfelt letter expressing her wishes.

“I think being cryo-preserved gives me a chance to be cured and woken up, even in hundreds of years’ time. I don’t want to be buried underground,” she wrote.

The ill teen added: “I want to live longer, and I think that in the future they might find a cure for my cancer and wake me up.”

She then outlined her wish to ‘come back in 200 years’ and get a ‘second chance’.

Sadly, the teen passed away on 17th October, but her wish was granted by Mr Justice Peter Jackson, who declared her case to be ‘unique’.

The teen’s body is now being cryogenically frozen in a US storage facility, making her the first British child to undergo the procedure.
