The family of a British man killed during Friday night’s atrocities in Paris have released a statement paying tribute to their son who was working at the Bataclan concert hall when gunmen opened fire on the fans and followers of US rock band Eagles of Death Metal.

Nick Alexander from Colchester in Essex was working as merchandiser in the well-known Parisian venue when he became another victim of terrorist group, ISIS, at the weekend.

Releasing a statement which honoured Nick, his family said: “It Is with huge sorrow that we can confirm that our beloved Nick lost his life at the Bataclan last night.”

Offering an insight into the relationship he shared with family members, they continued: “Nick was not just our brother, son and uncle, he was everyone’s best friend – generous, funny and fiercely loyal.”

36-year-old Nick, who is understood to have died in the arms of his friend Helen Wilson, was said to be an individual incredibly passionate about music who boasted a large circle of friends.

Reflecting on their son’s life, his family continued: “Nick died doing the job he loved and we take great comfort in knowing how much he was cherished by his friends around the world.”

The Alexander family finished their statement by expressing their gratitude for the support they have received thus far, saying: “Thank you for your thoughts and respect for our family at this difficult time. Peace and light.”

Nick’s friend Helen is currently in a Parisian hospital.

Our thoughts remain with all those affected by the weekend's events.
