If you’ve heard that women’s hair becomes thick and gorgeous during pregnancy, you may be wondering why yours is just less manageable than ever.
 
The trouble is that the many extra hormones your body is producing during your pregnancy affect everyone differently, and that includes your hair.
 
While some women will find that their hair is thicker than usual, some will find theirs sparser. Some will find their usually curly locks straighter than usual, and many will experience less than predictable results with chemical treatments.
 
Not only do those hormones affect the hair on your head, but everywhere else too. You may find that you’re suddenly sprouting hair where there never was hair before.
 
There’s not much you can do to change the effect of hormones on your hair, but there are general rules that do still apply. Eat a healthy diet, use hot oil treatments, and try scalp massage to tame your hair while pregnant, as you would at any other time. Do exercise caution with chemical treatments though – as with anything chemical, you need to be extra careful while pregnant!
