Any mum out there will know only too well what it’s like to be the ‘workhorse’ at home, getting caught to do everything from the cooking to the cleaning on your own. This is why Ariel’s latest campaign, which ponders over ‘why laundry is only a mother’s job’, has made such an impact.
In a powerful video, a father is seen looking on proudly as his daughter takes charge at home, cleaning and making tea for her husband, while simultaneously giving orders to the office over the phone. His pride, however, is tinged with sorrow as he realises that ‘she has to do all this alone’.
“Sorry that I never stopped you, while you were playing house…I never told you that it’s not your job alone…but your husband’s too,” he tells her.
In a moving note to his daughter, he takes on a portion of the blame as he realises he never stepped in at home to help his wife, which ultimately taught her to accept running a household without any help.
“Sorry on behalf of every dad who set the wrong example,” writes the dad, who promises her he is going to ‘set things right’ from hereon in.
