The policeman killed during yesterday’s attacks in London has been named as Keith Palmer. PC Palmer, 48, was a dad and husband.

He was killed on duty at the Houses of Parliament after a man wielding two knives rushed towards him and stabbed him.

It’s been reported that five people have died, including PC Palmer and the attacker, and at least 40 others were injured during the attacks.

The attack happened in two stages; at about 2.40pm, a man drove his car off the road and onto Westminster Bridge, mowing down pedestrians in his path.

Two people died at the site of the collision, and others were injured - including several French students, according to The Mail Online.

The car then crashed into railings outside the Houses of Parliament, according to BBC News.

The attacker leapt out of the car and ran towards Parliament, where police confronted him. As an unarmed PC Palmer attempted to fend off the attacker, he was fatally stabbed.

The attacker was shot dead by armed officers.

Tributes have been flooding in for the heroic policeman, who also served in the British Army.

MP James Cleverly who served in the army with PC Palmer said he was “heartbroken” at the loss of his friend who he knew for 25 years.

Members of the police force also paid their respects to their brave colleague.

Acting Deputy Commissioner and head of counter terrorism at the Metropolitan Police, Mark Rowley, commended PC Palmer on his bravery.

Mr. Rowley said: "He was someone who left for work today expecting to return home at the end of his shift, and he had every right to expect that would happen."

Mayor of London Saddiq Khan also expressed his sadness at the brutal killing.

Another victim has been named as Ashya Frade, a 43-year-old mum-of-two, according to The Mail Online.

London went into lockdown following the horrific attacks, with no one allowed out of the House of Commons for over four hours afterwards.

Prime Minister Theresa May has condemned the attacks as "sick" and "depraved".

Our thoughts are with the families of the victims at this time.
