Young mum Teagan Lowrey’s first instinct was to shield her ten-month-old son when her former partner began attacking her after a row.

Teagan suffered bruises and bite marks to her body after the altercation with her son’s father and pushed her son Jayden-Lee’s face into her chest so he wouldn’t see what was happening.

In December 2015, Teagan, who was just 18 at the time, had been looking forward to the family’s first Christmas together with their little boy until her ex Jordan Lowther became violent.

He smashed her phone which contained irreplaceable photos of their son before going out.

Teagan found him sleeping on the sofa the next day and asked him to leave. But Lowther reacted angrily, shouting verbal abuse at her before spitting in her face, grabbing her hair and biting her legs.

Throughout the attack, she struggled to keep little Jayden-Lee from witnessing what was going on.

“All I can remember is cuddling my little boy into my chest so he couldn’t see what his daddy was doing to his mummy", she recalled.

“Someone I loved with all my heart, someone I would have done anything for, turned on me”.

Despite being physically and mentally traumatised by the attack, Teagan has bravely spoken out in the hopes she can help other victims of domestic abuse who have children.

She said: “My message to other victims, especially those who have children, and whether they’re suffering from mental or physical abuse is: ‘Don’t let anyone put you down, get out and think of the children; if not think about yourself and your happiness, you can do it’ ”.

Lowther was convicted assault causing actual bodily harm at Carlisle Crown Court last year and was given a five-year restraining order, according to The Metro.

However, he subsequently breached the restraining order and was found guilty of doing so at Furness Magistrates’ Court in Barrow.

He is due to be sentenced on August 18.

After her ex breached the restraining order, the care assistant decided to share her story and photos of her injuries in the hopes of helping others in a similar situation.

Teagan has been incredibly brave to speak up about her ordeal, we admire her courage in such a difficult scenario.
