Think about how often you use your hands during the day. We are always either texting on the phone, using them to type, open jars or eat with! As long as we are on the go, so are our hands. We do pretty much every activity during the day using our hands. We want our hands to not only work for us but also to look good as they are a very noticeable part of our bodies. So it is important to look after them and treat them right. Here are some hand-care tips to help repay them for their hard work and keep them looking great.
Wear gloves inside and out
When you’re washing up or exposing your hands to chemicals, always wear protective gloves. When you’re outside, wear mittens or gloves to protect them from cold air that can cause cracked, dry skin.
Wear sunscreen
Your hands are exposed to the outside elements a lot. It is important not to overlook them when applying sunscreen. Try and form the habit of practicing great hand care by putting sunscreen on your hands whenever they will be exposed.
You can buy sunscreen in tiny travel-size tubes, so get one to keep in your handbag and reapply it during the day. Applying sunscreen regularly can combat against age or liver spots which are brown spots that form on the skin as you get older. They are cause by the sun and can be prevented by wearing sunscreen.
Exfoliate your hands
Many of us exfoliate our bodies and our faces, but we often neglect our hands. It is as important to exfoliate your hands as it is your face. The veins and bones in hands stand out more as we age because the skin on the back of the hands thins. Although exfoliating can’t make you younger, it can help the skin on your hands look fresh.
Keep your hands moisturised
Keeping your hands moisturised is very important to their health. We wash our hands many times a day, which can dry them out. During the day, use a water based moisturiser which will not dry out your skin. At night time, consider using an oil-based cream that can soak in while you sleep. You will wake up with lovely hydrated hands.
Massage your hands
You can massage your own hands, starting with the fleshy part at the base of your thumb. Work your way onto each finger from the part nearest the hand upwards. Use lotion when giving your hands this extra bit of attention.
Following these tips will help give you lovely, pretty hands that you will be proud of.
