Just because you can’t see or cuddle your baby yet, doesn’t mean you can’t bond with them. While pregnancy in itself is a great way to feel connected with your baby, there are a few other things you can do to bring you that bit closer.

Massage your bump
Massaging your bump won’t just make your skin feel softer and look amazing, it also helps you to bond with your baby. Spend an hour relaxing while you rub cream onto your bump, speak to your baby, listen to some calm music and make it just about you and bump.

Have a chat with your little one
Talking to your bump will help you feel more in touch with your baby. However, not only will you feel connected to your little one, they will quickly become familiar with the sound of your voice.

React to their kicks
Most expectant mothers can’t help reacting to their baby’s kicks and it is a great opportunity to bond. When your baby kicks, put your hand to that area or rub your belly to try to get them to kick you again.

Involve the rest of the family
Get your other half to talk or sing to the baby and get your other kids to give your bump a kiss. This way the whole family will feel like they are a part of the process between you and baby.

Go to yoga
Yoga is a brilliant way to feel connected with your body and thus your baby. Ante natal yoga classes will help you with breathing techniques and relax a little more.

Carry your scan in your wallet
Your scan picture is a great way to visualise your baby. Pop the original or a copy of the original into your wallet and take it out every now and then to have a good look at baby. Before long, your scan picture will be replaced by your baby picture.

Chart your bump's change
Take picture each month of your bump and as you get closer to your due date have a look over them. Recognising your bump as part of you and not just a place for baby to grow, will help you feel more connected to it.

Listen to music
Singing or simply listening to music can help you and your little connect. Both you and baby will feel the benefits of moving around to the music.
