Yesterday, we were left heartbroken by the story of a Texas mother who died saving her daughter's life during Hurricane Harvey.

The tragic tale touched hearts all over the world, and this is clear from the amount of money that has been raised for the family through crowdfunding.

Michael Skolnik created the GoFundMe page (link here), for the family of three-year-old Jordyn Grace, who lost mother Colette Sulcer on Tuesday.

According to reports, the pair got into trouble while driving through floods in their car, in Beaumont.

At some point, Colette got out of the vehicle with her toddler. Emergency responders came across Colette floating in a canal, with little Jordyn clinging to her.

Both were transported to hospital, where Jordyn was treated for hypothermia. Sadly, her mother did not regain consciousness.

Over on the fundraising page, Michael wrote: “This story has broken my heart, and I feel we have to do something for this little girl.”

An extract from a New York Times article revealed more heart-breaking details from the tragedy.

Speaking to the publication, family relative Antoinette Logan said that Colette died ‘saying her prayers’.

“Jordyn told me they were in the yucky water for quite a while,” she added.

“It’s a tragedy that her mama died, but it’s a miracle that Jordyn survived.”

The death toll for Hurricane Harvey currently stands at 30, with emergency workers rescuing people all over Texas in boats.

We are thinking of all those affected by Hurricane Harvey, especially those families who have lost loved ones.
