Loathe and all as we are to admit it, there are times when we're wholly convinced our children mistake us for slaves.

Whether they truly believe we enjoy picking up after them on a daily basis or they simply refuse to acknowledge their role in the household, our children's reluctance to row in and lend a hand can infuriate even the most mellow of parents.

If you find yourself in this position more often than not, why not take a leaf from the book of Reddit user Iabuzan?

Irritated by his teenagers' apparent lack of concern for household tasks, this wily dad decided to channel his inner Liam Neeson and lay his cards on the table.

Paraphrasing quotes from box office hit Taken, Iabuzan informed his children of the cunning plan he planned to execute should they continue to ignore their household duties.

While commenting on his approach, the frustrated dad paid tribute to his children, but acknowledged their various shortcomings.

Opening up about the teenagers, he said: "My oldest graduated high school a semester early and then got a 30 hour a week job to save money for college. My youngest has a 3.95 GPA in all IB classes and picked up a summer job for 30 hours a week. When it comes to the "big rocks" of life, they are squared away. They're just slobs."

Let's hope it worked!
