An investigation has reportedly been launched this week, after a young girl was the victim of an alleged attempted abduction in Kildare yesterday.

According to Independent.ie, the girl – who is described only as ‘a minor’ – was out walking alone when she was approached by a man in a car and ordered to get in.

The incident, which occurred close to the garda station in Athy, unfolded when a male driver approached the young girl in a white BMW with tinted windows. He is said to have asked the girl for directions to the Credit Union, with another male then getting out of the car and ordering her to get inside.

The driver is described as being in his 20s, with tattoos.

Thankfully, the girl managed to escape, and she ran directly to the nearby garda station where she reported the incident.

The girl is said to be ‘doing fine’ after the ordeal, and gardaí are now investigating the frightening sequence of events.

We are so relieved to hear that the girl is unharmed after the incident, and we hope gardaí will manage to safeguard the area and protect other vulnerable members of the community.
