The Irish nanny, who has been accused and charged with killing a one-year-old child in her care, has been granted provisional release on a bail of $15,000 as she awaits her trial.

34-year-old Aisling Brady McCarthy, who was accused of the crime two years ago, must surrender her passport and wear a GPS monitoring device in order to meet the stipulations of the bail.

The nanny from Co. Cavan was living illegally in the United States when Rehma Sabir died in her family home in Cambridge, Massachusetts while under the Irish woman's care.

Rehma's death was ruled a homicide after traumatic head injuries were discovered during her postmortem.

Ms. Brady McCarthy's trial is due to start in early July, but prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald said the 34-year-old posed 'a substantial risk of flight' under the new bail agreements.
