There are very few family homes across the country who haven't been exposed to the comings and goings of everyone's favourite cartoon pig, right?

And if recent reports are to be believed, it looks like Peppa and her adorable family do more than just entertain our children on a daily basis.

According to The Vegan Society’s Facebook page, Peppa and co. are are in fact turning children off meat, with many expressing reluctance at the prospect of eating certain produce in case it's their beloved cartoon idol.

Weighing in on the discussion which has garnered much attention on social media, the mum of one particular Peppa fan revealed: "My three-year-old daughter loves Peppa, every time she sees me cooking she will ask if it’s Peppa. That’s why our main diet is fish and meat."

Remarking on the impact the cartoon has had on childrens' attitude towards animals, Jimmy Pierce spokesperson for the Vegan Society in Britain highlighted a disparity which he feels deserves acknowledgement.

"Children instinctively want to care for and protect animals. Society, however, tells us to discriminate," he explained. "Cats and dogs are to be looked after, but cows, pigs, chicken and many others are to be used and exploited."

Mr Pierce credited the show, which has been running since 2004, with impacting society's views on living creatures, asserting: "If it takes a television programme to humanise a pig for people to recognise that, then so be it. Thanks Peppa Pig!"

So, have you noticed your children are less likely to tuck in to certain foods after becoming acquainted with Peppa and the gang?
